de Leon Segovia

Senior Associate Director

Diego Adrián de León Segovia is a senior associate director at APCO and is based in New York where he is a member of the Office of the Executive Chair. Mr. de León Segovia  supports senior level officers to coordinate and advance APCO’s OXC projects in Latin America and other strategic regions, especially those regarding climate change.

Before joining APCO, Mr. de León Segovia served as director for urban, energy and infrastructure affairs and director for climate change at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he oversaw the supervision of bilateral and multilateral negotiations related to these topics. He was also a leading member of the COVID-19 special taskforce set up by the Ministry to procure vaccines for Mexico.

Mr. de León Segovia has had the opportunity to work in multiple organizations around the globe, including the United Nations Development Programme, Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Investment, the State Government of Jalisco in Mexico, and the United Nations Executive Office of the Secretary General.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Tec de Monterrey in Mexico, where he graduated as top of the international undergraduate program, and a master’s degree in development practice from Columbia University where he was a Fulbright Scholar. In his spare time, he leads Queers X Climate, a nonprofit dedicated  to enhance the understanding and action of the intersection  of  climate change and LGBTI+ rights.
