David Kusnet, senior director based in APCO’s Washington D.C., office, is an expert in messaging and media strategy, working with clients to write speeches, op-eds and other articles and content. Mr. Kusnet has worked with international and sovereign clients, as well as clients in the telecommunications, technology, energy, health, education, transportation, infrastructure, nonprofit and advocacy sectors.

Prior to joining APCO, Mr. Kusnet was chief speechwriter for former President Bill Clinton during the 1992 campaign and the first term. He has written speeches for three presidential nominees, international leaders, U.S. cabinet secretaries, corporate executives and leaders in education, labor, civil rights and nonprofit and charitable organizations. He is the author of five books about presidential politics, workplace issues, urban infrastructure and public attitudes toward the economy. Mr. Kusnet was also a senior writer and a principal at the Podesta Group, a government relations and public affairs firm, with international, corporate, education and nonprofit and advocacy clients.

Mr. Kusnet has a B.A. in political science from Yale University. He has lectured on presidential speechwriting at American University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, New York University, the University of Washington and Missouri Baptist University
