Alexander M. Wegner is an account director at APCO Worldwide and works with leading public sector clients in the Arabian Gulf region on maximizing returns on their communications. He joined APCO from Richard Attias & Associates (RA&A), a pioneer in nation branding, where he was the dedicated Project Manager and Technology Partnerships Lead for the Future Investment Initiative (FII), or “Davos in the Desert.” Then hosted by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia’s $325-billion sovereign wealth fund, the annual event brings together the who-is-who of global business.
Prior to RA&A, Mr. Wegner advised private and public sector clients in the Arabian Gulf region and Germany on corporate communication, crisis communication, digital engagement, and reputation management. Having spent well over a decade in the GCC region, he understands regional dynamics and specializes in helping organizations navigate complex politico-economic environments, refine their strategic positioning, and evolve their brand.
Mr. Wegner holds an MA in Social Science with a focus on Political Theory from the University of Chicago and a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. In addition to being a Global Shaper at the World Economic Forum (WEF), a Fellow at the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), as well as One Young World Ambassador and Peer Mentor, he is a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the Planetary Society.
