Brussels (October 30, 2015) — Edit Herczog, former member of the European Parliament from Hungary with more than 30 years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs and government relations, today joined APCO Worldwide’s International Advisory Council (IAC), announced Margery Kraus, founder and executive chairman.

“Edit’s vast first-hand knowledge and unique perspectives on the legislative process make her an invaluable resource for our clients who need counsel in the EU and an incredible addition to our IAC,” Kraus said. “Her expertise in foreign relations will provide a unique and informed perspective for our clients.”

Herczog has a deep understanding of financial mechanisms and budgetary techniques from her time serving on the Budget and Budgetary Control Committees in the European Parliament. She also served on the Industry Research and Energy Committee, where she gained a unique perspective on the legislative process and research and development. She served on the EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and as a member of the delegations for relations with the United States and Canada. Prior to serving in the European Parliament, Herczog was a member of the Hungarian Parliament on the Environment and Foreign Affairs Committees, the Hungarian Delegation to the Council of Europe and the National Development Council.

Herczog is the founder and director of Vision and Values, an organization in Brussels that examines some of the most complex European issues and specializes in giving strategic advice to top decision-makers in government and business. She has nearly a decade of experience in corporate relations and management work.

“I am delighted to join the distinguished group of APCO’s IAC members,” Herczog said. “I look forward to advising clients through intricate public affairs, government relations and corporate communications issues, helping them achieve success in those ever-changing fields.”

Herczog is also a fellow at the Transatlantic Policy Network where she focuses on transparency issues. She holds a Certificate of Company Direction for strategic marketing, financial management and company law from the Institute of Directors at Pall Mall, London. She received a master’s degree in food engineering with a specialization in viticulturist engineering from the University of Horticultural Science in Budapest.

“Edit’s extensive background in public affairs and government relations and her leadership positions in a variety of disciplines make her a strong asset to APCO’s IAC,” said Brad Staples, CEO of APCO Worldwide. “With her in-depth knowledge of the European Parliament, I look forward to seeing her bring success to our clients both in the region and around the world.”
