Project Consultant

Kaj Malden is a project consultant in APCO Worldwide's Shanghai office specializing in government relations and strategic communications. Mr. Malden monitors and analyzes public and economic policy in China and advises clients across several sectors, including health care and financial services. He serves as co-editor of APCO's China Reform Watch.

Prior to joining APCO, Mr. Malden taught in the School of Foreign Studies at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. He also participated in the Young Ambassador Program at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy, the Beijing affiliate office of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he conducted research and analysis for the Climate and Energy Program.

Mr. Malden holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, where his studies focused on U.S.-China relations, and a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Lewis & Clark College. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has studied Japanese.
