Jim Moorhead is the founder of BraveStand Partners, LLC, a strategy and communications firm. His company supports people and organizations to be bold and brave and stand up for themselves, each other, their communities and the world.

Mr. Moorhead has extensive experience handling high-stakes situations as a strategic communications advisor, major law firm partner, investment banker and political consultant. He is an experienced strategic advisor to Fortune 500 and other major companies facing challenging business, legal, regulatory and political settings.

Mr. Moorhead’s specialties include issues and crisis management and litigation communications, and he regularly helps organizations create and implement corporate communications, thought leadership and public affairs programs. He also advises clients on their crisis preparedness activities, including vulnerability assessments, crisis plans and crisis simulations for critical scenarios. The issues and crises Mr. Moorhead has helped address during his career range from data breaches to product recalls, criminal investigations to congressional hearings, sexual harassment/abuse claims to class action litigation. He assisted with the response to the first diagnoses of Ebola on U.S. soil at the Texas Health Resources hospital in Dallas. His clients have included leading companies in the financial services, food, retail, technology, health and energy sectors.

He formerly was a senior director and North America lead for APCO’s global crisis issues litigation communications practice. Before that, Mr. Moorhead was a managing director at Burson-Marsteller, specializing in issues and crisis management and litigation communications. Earlier in his career he was a partner at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, a global law firm, where he co-chaired the crisis management practice and chaired the class action practice during his 16-year tenure. He advised clients on forging effective responses to U.S. Department of Justice, Congressional and agency investigations and class action litigation and ensuing media coverage. He also was an investment banker with Goldman Sachs and an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland.

He speaks regularly on strategy and communications and is the author of The Instant Survivor: Right Ways to Respond When Things Go Wrong. He earned a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an A.B. in government from Harvard College.
