Melissa Musiker, senior director, is APCO Worldwide's global Food, Consumer Products & Retail practice lead based in New York. Her extensive background in food and nutrition with particular expertise in consumer lifestyle trends and public policy has made her a trusted resource among media, business and not-for-profit executives seeking to better understand and communicate about issues related to the continuum of agriculture, food, nutrition, health, wellbeing and sustainability. 

One of only a handful of registered dietitians in the field of public affairs and public relations with a background in both clinical nutrition and formal training in public policy and econometrics, Ms. Musiker provides nuanced strategic communications support to clients looking to engage in the global conversation on the future of food and agriculture.

Prior to joining APCO, Ms. Musiker was director of science policy, nutrition and health for the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) and was an economist at the USDA Economic Research Service. Before entering public policy and communications, she was a practicing dietitian focusing on pediatric nutrition in both clinical and community settings. 

Ms. Musiker earned a Bachelor of Science in nutrition science from Cornell University and completed the university’s dietetic internship. She also holds a Master of Public Policy with a focus on health policy from the Georgetown McCourt School of Public Policy. Ms. Musiker is a registered dietitian.
