Rachel Thompson, regional director in APCO Worldwide’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region and practice manager for corporate responsibility and global trade, is based in APCO’s London office. Ms. Thompson has been an Australian NGO campaign leader on forest issues, Australian trade negotiator, a senior policy researcher in an intergovernmental organization, and now provides strategic advice on trade and globalization issues to governments and corporations.
From 1997-1999, Ms. Thompson was at the OECD in Paris, where she led research and analysis on global trade aspects of services and electronic commerce. Prior to OECD, from 1987, Ms. Thompson served in the Australian Foreign Service, including the Uruguay Round team from 1989-1993, as first secretary then counsellor in Australia’s Permanent Mission to the GATT/WTO in Geneva from 1992-1995, and as director, Trade Strategy in Canberra in 1995-1996.
