Edward Walsh regional director, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) joined APCO Worldwide’s
London office in 2006. His responsibilities span client service with a focus on the information
technology and telecommunications sectors, business development and operational management of
APCO’s European business.
Mr. Walsh spent the previous nine years in various senior corporate communication positions at
IBM, ranging from managing internal and executive communication in EMEA, to leading the change and
corporate communication work for the integration of Price Waterhouse Coopers Consulting (PwCC) in
Europe, following its acquisition by IBM in 2002. In his last role prior to joining APCO, he was
director of corporate communications for IBM France and Northwest Africa, and a member of IBM
France’s executive management team.
As part of a sabbatical from IBM in 2000-2001, Mr. Walsh was the head of marketing and
communication for Mandrakesoft (now Mandriva), a Paris-based open-source software and services
company. He led the communication work stream for the company’s initial public offering on the
Paris Euronext stock exchange (Marche Libre) in July 2001, having played a key part in the
development of the business plan.
In the first five years of his career, Mr. Walsh worked as a parliamentary assistant at the House
of Commons, and for a leading public affairs consultancy in London and Brussels, focusing on
audiovisual, consumer affairs, environmental, and market liberalization regulatory issues. He
began his career as a marketing and production assistant in the television industry.
Mr. Walsh has dual British and French nationalities, holds a Bachelor of Science with honours in
European Integration, Politics & Government, and is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques
de Paris (Sciences Po), having majored in international relations.
