David King is associate director of APCO Online®, a service group that delivers powerful, results-focused online communication strategies for APCO Worldwide’s clients around the world. Mr. King is based in APCO’s London office and has been a leading contributor to the ‘digital revolution’ since 1993. During that time he worked with many of the world’s top brands in developing innovative applications in the online environment.
Prior to joining APCO, Mr. King was managing director of Fullsix UK, a part of the WPP group of companies. Integrating marketing, creative and information technology expertise to deliver cutting edge, multi-channel relationship marketing strategies, clients included Proctor & Gamble, telecoms giant Orange, Reckitt Benckiser home care brands, UNICEF, Hilton International, Coca-Cola Powerade, Whirlpool and Granada.
Prior to joining Fullsix, Mr. King was managing director, Europe, Middle East and Africa, of Digital @ JWT, the digital solutions subsidiary of the J. Walter Thompson Company. He joined the WPP-owned company in January 2000 growing and overseeing operations in London, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Madrid, Jeddah, Lisbon, Zurich, Athens, Warsaw, Prague and Tel Aviv. He worked with clients such as Nestlé, Kraft Foods International, Shell, BMW, Siemens, Sun Microsystems, Heineken, Diageo/UDV, Kellogg’s and Telefonica.
He moved to the United Kingdom in 1997 and served as chief executive officer of Icon Medialab UK (now LB Icon). He grew the company from four staff and no clients to 90 dedicated professionals providing Internet, intranet, extranet and ecommerce solutions for Sony Playstation, Carphone Warehouse, Fujitsu, Amersham Pharmacia Biotech, the European Union, Lloyds TSB, American Express and Bank of Ireland among others.
Prior to joining Icon Medialab, Mr. King served as founder and managing partner of DDB Interactive, the new media/new technologies division of DDB Needham Worldwide Communications Group in Dallas and New York. During his nearly four year tenure, Mr, King developed ground breaking applications for clients including Pepsi, World Cup France 98, GTE, American Airlines, CIGNA Health Care, Frito-Lay, Office Depot, EDS, Footaction and WorldPages.
Before joining DDB Needham in 1993, Mr. King spent 21 years in the production, development and marketing of broadcast television programming on an international basis, and has been heavily involved in the design and creation of computer-based applications.
