Former Burson CEO Joins APCO Worldwide
Komisarjevsky will guide global client strategy, advise corporate, financial clients
New York (June 26, 2006) – Chris Komisarjevsky, former worldwide president and chief executive officer of Burson-Marsteller, is joining the senior team of APCO Worldwide, Margery Kraus, president and chief executive officer, announced today. Based in APCO’s New York office, Komisarjevsky will guide APCO’s global client relationship strategy and counsel clients on corporate, financial and investor relations.
“Chris is one of the industry’s most experienced executives in corporate and financial communication and executive-level counsel,” said Kraus. “With his extensive international experience, Chris also brings a global perspective to our financial communication practice that today includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, debt market communication and investor relations as well as representation of financial institutions. He will work with our senior client leaders around the world, including Kirk Stewart, who joined us recently from Nike to lead our corporate communication practice.”
Prior to Burson-Marsteller, Komisarjevsky served as president of Gavin Anderson, the financial relations firm, and president and chief executive of Hill & Knowlton’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, serving in Geneva and London.

An accomplished agency chief executive with worldwide leadership experience over a 30 year career, he has counseled global corporate clients in a range of industries including financial services, entertainment, health care and management consulting. He has extensive experience in corporate and financial communications.
Upon retiring from his global leadership responsibilities at Burson-Marsteller, Komisarjevsky was appointed professor and the Harold Burson chair in Public Relations at Boston University in the College of Communication, teaching graduate students in crisis and issues management. In addition to Komisarjevsky’s agency leadership roles, he is a published author and speaker on a variety of public relations topics. He has lectured on communication and business at Switzerland’s International Institute for Management Development, Spain’s Instituto de Empresa and a number of universities in the United States, including the University of Connecticut.
A 1996 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and a member of the David Rockefeller Fellow’s class of 1998, Komisarjevsky currently serves on the board of various nonprofit organizations, a Department of Defense Advisory Board and is an independent trustee/member of the board of two mutual fund companies.
He holds a master’s degree in business from the University of Connecticut, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Union College.
