Health Care Expert Rossella Carrara Named Deputy Managing Director for APCO Worldwide's Rome Office

Rome (December 11, 2015) — Rossella Carrara, health care and crisis communications expert with 20 years of industry experience, joined APCO Worldwide as deputy managing director of APCO’s Rome office, Paolo Compostella, managing director of the office, announced today. Carrara previously served as head of Burson-Marsteller’s health care communication practice and issues and crisis management practice in Italy and was also EMEA deputy health care practice chair.

Carrara_Rossella_sqCarrara’s health care experience includes product launches, awareness campaigns, alliance building, advisory board management and patient advocacy relations with leading pharmaceutical companies and trade associations such as Novartis, Sandoz, Covidien, Medtronic, Lilly and the Italian OTC Producers Association.

"The appointment of Rossella as deputy managing director in Rome highlights APCO’s strategic growth in Italy and continued investment in the firm’s global health care practice," said Paolo Compostella, managing director of APCO Worldwide in Rome. "We continue to expand our ability to provide strategic consulting services with high added value, strengthen our expertise in the field of health care and strengthen our market position in critical areas such as crisis communication. With our growth over the past several years, Rossella’s arrival will allow us to continue on this path with even more conviction.”

Carrara has experience leading issues and crisis communication projects for large multinational companies in various sectors including pharmaceutical, shipping, transport, food and technology, with a focus on crisis preparedness, corporate- and product-related issues and crisis management. She was responsible for coordinating the communication of the removal project of the Costa Concordia, where she managed relations with institutions and national and international media.

"I am delighted to join the APCO team, a highly integrated, international firm that expresses a great ability to manage articulated projects of stakeholder and reputation management, which are now more than ever necessary to companies that move in increasingly complex and rapidly changing scenarios,” Carrara said. “One of the reasons I joined APCO is because the firm has incredible tools and intellectual property to deploy on behalf of clients.”

Carrara joins a distinguished group of experts in APCO’s global health care practice, the firm’s largest. APCO’s highly-skilled team of health care professionals includes experienced health care administrators, senior government and regulatory officials and former senior executives from pharmaceutical companies who provide strategic counsel and engage stakeholders globally for clients such as the United Nations Foundation (UNF), Bristol Myers-Squibb (BMS) and the British Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers.
