Mark Dober
Mark Dober, managing director of APCO Worldwide’s strategic communication practice in Brussels, has 20 years of experience in public affairs and public relations. Mr. Dober has been twice voted ‘European Consultant of the Year’ by Jury for Public Affairs News, and also by members of The European Public Affairs Directory.
Mr. Dober was APCO’s first employee in Europe and set up APCO’s Brussels office in 1995, acting as managing director and then joint managing director until 2000.
Mr. Dober has broad experience in corporate communication, and is recently certified by the Institute of Risk Management. Mr. Dober’s main industry area of expertise is in health care. He has represented numerous interests in the sector including the leading European pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical technology associations. He is a regular conference speaker on health care issues, recently chairing the European Pharma Marketing Congress, and speaking at the Drug Industry Association AGM.
Mr. Dober has also represented many governments during his consulting career, and been particularly involved with corporate responsibility and political programmes in Africa.
Prior to joining APCO, Mr. Dober served a short service limited commission with the British Army in the Brigade of Gurkhas. He then commenced his career in communication with the marketing department of an international bank, BCCI. He joined the London office of Hill & Knowlton International in 1991 and left their Brussels office as associate director in 1994.
He is also a veteran advisor and campaigner for various European elections, and edited The Guide to the European Parliament (Grapho).
Mr. Dober holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the PUC University of Rio de Janeiro. Mr. Dober has taught semesters for the Masters in Strategic Communications at Brussels IHECS University. He speaks Portuguese, French, Spanish and English.
