Jan Hausrath
Jan Hausrath, executive vice president and director of APCO Worldwide’s corporate positioning practice, provides corporate and investor communication consulting, media relations, marketing and branding counsel, internal communication counsel, as well as integrated communication program strategy, for APCO clients. Her clients include Fortune 100 companies, health care organizations, trade associations, nonprofits, foreign governments and professional service organizations.
Ms. Hausrath regularly advises clients on how to achieve organizational and process improvements that maximize communication outreach to internal and external audiences, and has conducted communication audits for companies in the health care, insurance, financial services, chemicals and energy sectors.
Ms. Hausrath has conducted presentation, crisis, internal communication and media relations training for senior executives on a wide variety of issues, including safety and security of financial systems, corporate governance, breast implants liability, environmental health and safety, aviation and auto safety, and energy exploration. She has provided communication coaching for numerous chief executive officers and senior officials.
Before joining APCO, Ms. Hausrath spent three years as director of practice development at the law firm of Arnold & Porter, where she was responsible for the creation and implementation of firm- wide and practice-specific marketing and public relations programs. Prior to her position at Arnold & Porter, Ms. Hausrath was senior vice president of Devillier Communications, a Washington, D.C.-based marketing and public relations firm. She also served as vice president for the Washington, D.C. office of Rogers & Cowan. Earlier in her career, Ms. Hausrath was national publicist for National Public Radio.
A frequent speaker on communication issues, Ms. Hausrath has presented at events hosted by the Public Relations Society of America, The Conference Board, PR News, Bulldog Reporter, and Washington Women in Communications. Her work has been honored with numerous awards, including the PR News Platinum PR Award, PRSA’s Silver Anvil Award, the International Mercury Award, the Pollie Award, the Gold Telly Award and the Communicator Award.
Ms. Hausrath holds a Bachelor of Arts from Mary Washington College and a Master of Arts in Communication from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
