CT Hew

CT Hew began his career as a public affairs consultant over 30 years ago and provides APCO Worldwide’s clients with strategic advice on a range of communication issues throughout the Asia region. He is an honors graduate of the University of Malaya. He started his career at Burson-Marsteller in Malaysia in 1975, eventually serving as managing director for Malaysia, regional director for Southeast Asia and president Asia. He relocated to Hong Kong in 1993. He was subsequently managing partner of Scotchbrook-BSMG Worldwide for five years and more recently vice chairman of GolinHarris in Hong Kong.

Mr. Hew has counseled chairmen and chief executives on death-related crises, product tampering and threats, blackmail situations, religious issues, regulatory concerns, government relations, staff retrenchments, environmental issues and product labeling issues. He also led teams working on a wide range of financial assignments, including privatizations, initial public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. His brand-building experience covers sectors such as airlines, hotels, building and construction, chemicals, energy, education, consumer goods, health care and technology.

Mr. Hew was a part-time member of the Hong Kong government’s think tank, the Central Policy Unit, from 1994 to 1996. He was appointed the first chairman of the Council of PR Firms in Hong Kong in 2003. He is currently a board governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and a fellow of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia.
