Washington, D.C. (June 29, 2006) – APCO Worldwide, a global public affairs and communication consultancy, today held the first semi-annual meeting of its International Advisory Council (IAC), Margery Kraus, president and chief executive officer, announced. IAC members, former senior members of government, parliament, academia, the business community and nonprofit organizations, work hand in hand with APCO staff to counsel clients on a broad range of issues.
The IAC is meeting in Washington to discuss the implications of major issues in today’s global marketplace and develop long-term strategies to provide counsel on these issues and others for our clients. Today’s meeting attendees include former French Trade Minister Christine Chauvet, former U.S. Sen. Don Riegle, former Nike chief communications officer Kirk Stewart and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Beth Jones.

Sergio Marchi, former Canadian cabinet minister and ambassador to the World Trade Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the United Nations agencies in Geneva, chairs the organization. “I am tremendously honored to be presiding over such a distinguished body of strategists and statesmen,” Marchi said. “The International Advisory Council’s roster truly reflects APCO’s standard of excellence.” Among others on the IAC are Stuart Eizenstat, former senior official in three cabinet agencies and former U.S. ambassador to the European Union; Pavel Telicka, former Czech Republic state secretary; and Jane Garvey, former administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.
