Vistance Partners Join APCO’s New York Office

Media, Corporate Experts Deepen APCO’s Core Offering

New York (April 5, 2007) — Derwin Johnson and Adam Segall, experts in strategic media and corporate communication, join APCO Worldwide as senior vice presidents, Larry Snoddon, vice chairman and managing director of APCO’s New York office, announced today.

The new hires build on APCO’s presence in New York, which is experiencing fast growth since opening in 2005. Most recently, Johnson and Segall worked together as partners at the Vistance Group, a corporate and financial communication firm they founded in 2001.

“Adam and Derwin continue to enhance the deep corporate and media experience of our team,” Snoddon said. “Their diverse backgrounds and history of seamless collaboration will be a valuable asset to our clients in New York and around the world.”

Johnson brings to APCO more than 25 years of experience as a journalist, educator and corporate executive. He advises clients on how to anticipate media conduct and effectively deliver messages to internal and external audiences. He also provides strategic and tactical guidance to Fortune 500 executives in a wide range of industries, including aviation, professional services, technology, pharmaceutical, health and beauty.

Johnson’s background as a journalist includes serving as Middle East bureau chief for CNN and ABC News, and producer for World News This Morning and Good Morning America News. He was a member of George H.W. Bush’s vice presidential press corps for ABC News and an associate professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Johnson joins other media experts at APCO including: Kent Jarrell, former reporter for CBS News; Charles Krause, former senior foreign affairs correspondent for The NewsHour, Latin America correspondent for CBS News and South America correspondent for the Washington Post; Jill Neff, former booker for CNN; and Brandon Mitchener, former chief European Union reporter in Brussels for The Wall Street Journal.

“APCO’s sophisticated approach to corporate reputation and media relations sets the standard among blue-chip clients around the world,” said Johnson. “I look forward to contributing to that standard of excellence and being a part of the success of a company with such momentum.”

Segall provides strategic counsel to international, national and regional clients on cause-related leadership, issue management and litigation communication. He has consulted on public, political and legal communication for more than 15 years and has significant expertise in corporate responsibility and corporate citizenship. Segall counsels 501c(3) organizations, foundations and professional service firms on communication strategies that attract new members, donations or new clients.

Segall’s diverse background includes director of the New York Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), head of strategic philanthropy for an international public relations agency, U.S. executive director of a Brazilian Arts and Environmental NGO, and chairman of the New York State Hate Crimes Bill Coalition. He continues to sit on numerous not for profit Boards providing strategic counsel. Segall began his career as an attorney handling complex litigation, administrative law and regulatory matters.

“Almost every aspect of our work over the past several years has been affected by globalization. When Derwin and I discussed our future, we wanted to be part of a global firm, and this was the perfect choice,” said Segall. “APCO provides us with the opportunity to work with a team committed to ensuring clients receive integrated, cutting-edge solutions to their pressing communication challenges.”
