APCO Bolsters UK Team with Three New Appointments
London (February 14, 2005) - APCO UK, 10 years old this year, has made three new appointments to mark its best year yet in terms of growth and revenue in 2004. The appointments are being made across both the public affairs and strategic communications practices.
Simon Miller, managing director of APCO UK said, "Last year was a landmark year for APCO UK, our revenues grew by over 13 percent in 2004 to reach record levels and further growth is forecast in 2005. The new appointments will focus on client service and new business. The success of APCO UK in 2004 made it clear that we needed to expand the team to ensure continued excellence in all our client work and give us room to continue to grow as expected in 2005."
Jonathan Simpson joins as a senior associate from VisitBritain where he was corporate public relations manager. He is also a liberal democrat councilor for the London Borough of Camden and brings his experience of working in the House of Commons and his previous public affairs agency knowledge to the burgeoning public affairs team at APCO which recently won Pan-European business from Arriva, Europe's leading transport services company.
Caroline Reed brings her knowledge of both European communications and public affairs to APCO's growing strategic communications and corporate social responsibility practices. She will report to APCO's global trade and corporate citizenship director Rachel Thompson. A graduate of Oxford and Cambridge, Reed also brings her experience in Brussels where she served for the past year as a media and policy advisor to Edward McMillan Scott, MEP and former European Parliament vice president.
Finally to support APCO's renowned health practice, Daniel Cusworth will be joining the team bringing several years of healthcare experience both in agency and in his current role of public executive at the BioIndustry Association. The health practice at APCO UK continues to grow with income topping £1m last year and it remains a priority growth area for the UK business. Cusworth will support APCO UK's health care division and will report into Tamsin Richmond Watson, director of Healthcare for APCO.
Commenting on the appointments Miller said, "Jonathan, Caroline and Daniel are welcome and necessary additions to APCO in the UK and will provide expertise across a range of clients and new business opportunities. We are achieving growth both in domestic public affairs programmes and in international work and expect this to continue. We have a very strong team here and I am delighted that Jonathan, Caroline and Daniel have joined us."
