Global Health, Corporate Responsibility Expert Joins APCO

Washington, D.C. (September 30, 2008) – Dr. Neeraj Mistry joined APCO Worldwide as senior vice president, Robert Schooling, managing director of the Washington, D.C., office, announced today. A public health physician, Mistry previously worked for the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC), where he served as founder and vice president of knowledge, evaluation and performance.

"Dr. Mistry brings to APCO and our clients tremendous expertise in global health and corporate responsibility," said Schooling. "He has worked in both developing and developed countries, within both the public and private sectors, and in areas of clinical medicine, public health and social development. His industry experience includes oil and gas, mining, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, automotive, clothing and apparel, and finance.

Mistry joins a strong team of APCO global health and corporate responsibility experts, including Trevor Neilson, former executive director of the GBC and former director of public affairs and special projects at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Sandra Taylor, member of APCO's International Advisory Council and former senior vice president of corporate social responsibility for Starbucks Coffee Company; Dr. Linda Distlerath, former vice president of global health and health policy, Asia Pacific, at Merck & Co., Inc.; and Kirk Stewart, former global vice president for corporate communications for Nike. Mistry also worked at the National Health Service (NHS) in London and in Merck & Co. Inc.'s department of public affairs for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In addition to his medical training, he holds a master's degree in international health policy and health economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
