George Washington University Physician Joins APCO Health Policy Team
Washington, D.C. (October 8, 2008) – George Washington University rheumatologist Geeta Nayyar joins APCO’s health policy practice as a vice president, Robert Schooling, managing director of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office and chair of APCO’s worldwide health care practice, announced today. Dr. Nayyar will help clients communicate critical health care issues to a diverse set of stakeholders and will advise on alliance development and health care issue management.

Dr. Nayyar will continue to practice rheumatology at George Washington University as an assistant clinical professor of medicine. She specializes in internal medicine with subspecialty training in rheumatology. She completed her fellowship at George Washington University, where she also completed her internship and residency.
Dr. Nayyar has been active in health policy since she was a medical student at the University of Miami’s accelerated honors program in medicine. Her accolades include serving as a nationally elected officer on the Health Policy Action Committee of the American Medical Student Association. She has also served as a public health and policy intern for the American College of Preventive Medicine, a lecturer for the Providence Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program and an affiliate liaison for the D.C. Rheumatism Society with the American College of Rheumatology. She is currently pursuing her MBA at George Washington University.
Dr. Nayyar joins a team of health policy experts at APCO, including Courtney Piron, head of the firm’s health policy practice and former director in Pfizer, Inc.’s economic and policy research group; Wayne Pines, former head of public affairs for the Food and Drug Administration; and Ken Thorpe, former deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and a member of APCO’s International Advisory Council.
