APCO is seeking to recruit a Consultant in Beijing.
Summary: A Consultant is involved with day-to-day support of client projects by helping draft materials (e.g. sector reports, government engagement strategies credentials, proposals), and by conducting and analyzing research on a variety of client related issues, including economic, industry and regulatory issues. A Consultant is responsible for coordinating client meetings and events, and working on client deliverables under the supervision of an assigned account manager. A Consultant is expected to demonstrate strong research, analytical and strategic abilities, understand writing style fundamentals and have strong written and oral communication skills. A Consultant will interface with all levels of staff and may have contact with clients regarding project issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven ability to write and speak clearly in English and Chinese
- Minimum of bachelors degree (post-graduate education will be an asset)

- Strong economic or financial background
- Deep understanding of Chinese political and economic issues
- Experience in corporate advisory (e.g. commercial Due Diligence)
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize project work
- Professional and confident demeanor
- Familiarity with Microsoft office software
- At least 3 years related work experience

Summary: A Senior Consultant is responsible for managing client projects, preparing client-ready materials (e.g. sector reports, government engagement strategies, credentials, proposals) and can quickly review and provide guidance on the work completed by junior colleagues. Senior Consultants maintain an awareness of macro business issues impacting clients by conducting and analyzing research on a variety of client related issues, including economic, industry and regulatory issues. They will be responsible for independently coordinating client meetings and events, and completing client deliverables under the supervision of an assigned senior account manager. Senior Consultants are expected to demonstrate an understanding of APCO's business practices and processes, as well as strong research, analytical and strategic abilities. Senior Consultants possess strong written and oral communication skills. A Senior Consultant interfaces with all levels of staff and will have contact with clients regarding project issues.

The individual will have leadership responsibilities in Hong Kong in managing client relationships focusing on public affairs. Driving the development and execution of communication programs for our clients, the individual is also expected to lead the development of new business. The position demands versatility, confidence and the ability to drive project teams in developing innovative communication strategies. Applicants must be motivated self-starters who can balance multiple projects and clients.
The candidate should have a good understanding about the local public affairs scene. Interest in advising clients on stakeholder relations and communication strategy are essential to this position. Given our clients' needs are ever changing and will provide you with a diverse set of challenges and opportunities, candidates must be passionate to work in the fast changing public affairs environment.
Candidates should also have:

Senior Associate Director, Strategic Communication
Shanghai
APCO Worldwide, a leading international public affairs consultancy, is seeking to hire a Senior Associate Director for its strategic communication team in Shanghai. The position demands versatility and strong experience in a variety of industries, while mastering the skills and techniques of the public affairs field. The Senior Associate Director will be a team leader involved with day-to-day management of client projects by supervising project teams and junior staff, and assisting with the company's business development and marketing. The Senior Associate Director will be responsible for developing communication plans, managing client relationships and day-to-day service deliverables. In addition, he or she will show demonstrated strategic planning and management abilities, and have good written and oral communication skills. He or she will interface with all levels of staff and clients regarding projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Handle strategic planning and program development for clients
- Manage client expectation and handle day-to-day reporting
- Establish project timelines and ensure that deadlines are met
- Develop and manage budgets
- Manage communication strategies and maintain other key stakeholder relationships
- Work with team members to resolve issues when they occur
- Provide leadership and coach team members as necessary for successful projects completion
- Grow new business from existing clients, and identify new business opportunities
- Support billing process, review prebills and timely complete entry of timesheets
- Maintain 90% billability
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties and responsibilities successfully.
- Master's degree or higher in related field required (overseas education would be asset)
- 7-10 years relevant experience, preferably in communication industry, media and international working environment
- Sector specific knowledge and experience in health/pharmaceutical, B2B, or fast moving consumer goods is an asset
- Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task
- Excellent written and oral skills (both English and Chinese)
- Demonstrated tactical abilities
- Self-motivated with professional demeanor
