Intern, Investment and Government Relations & Strategic Communication

APCO is seeking to recruit an intern for its Investment and Government Relations & Strategic Communication teams in Beijing. APCO's internship program seeks to provide students with valuable and substantive work experience and strives to involve interns in all aspects of the company. APCO's interns become integral team members on a wide range of accounts, providing critical support while learning more about the industry as a whole. An intern is also encouraged to attend practice group and other staff meetings, as well as to get involved in the company's social events. Internships normally last for six months.

Summary: An intern is responsible for supporting assigned staff on all projects. Specific responsibilities may include internet-based research, polishing written documents and other support as dictated by project managers. Interns report directly to assigned project staff and the Intern Coordinator.

Responsibilities: The following are specific duties assigned to interns and are performed on a daily basis.

Assist project staff with tasks including but not limited to:

  • Editing and refining written documents for clients
  • Drafting reports for project managers
  • Conducting industry and/or client research
  • Provide logistical support to project managers for client meetings
  • Other work as requested by project managers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Basic knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties and responsibilities successfully.

  • Relevant educational, professional or previous intern experience: an intern should have recently completed or be in the last year of study towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • Strong interest in business and China
  • Native English speaker, and with some level of Chinese language ability
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly
  • Ability to research effectively
  • Ability to organize and multi-task project work
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as to work independently
  • Self-motivated and professionally presented
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office software
  • Currently resident in Beijing (no relocations considered); Valid visa needs to be available and managed by intern him/herself during the internship period.

APCO's interns become integral team members on a multitude of accounts, providing critical support while learning more about the industry as a whole.

While intern responsibilities vary between projects, they typically include research, translation, writing and event management support. The interns are also encouraged to attend practice group, staff and brainstorm meetings, as well as to get involved in the company's social events.

Overall, interns are encouraged to become an integral part of the company and of any project team, and every effort is made to ensure their experience at APCO is a substantive and positive one.
