Internships are offered during the summer and also on a semester basis. APCO Insight® Opinion Research Intern
Washington, D.C.

APCO Insight is the opinion research and message development division of APCO Worldwide, a Washington, D.C., based global consultancy. We provide research and strategic communication consulting for Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and other clients from around the world. We use both qualitative (focus groups) and quantitative (surveys) research to help clients communicate effectively on public policy issues, litigation and corporate positioning. In addition, APCO Insight conducts advanced brand and reputation modeling.

Qualified candidates should have the following experience/skills:

  • A working knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics (experience with statistical software, SPSS or SAS, is preferable but not required)
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Working experience with business software (Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint)

Assignments may include:

  • Editing reports and other written communication
  • Writing reports and memoranda on research findings
  • Participating in the development of client proposals

Business Development Intern

As APCO Worldwide constantly and rapidly grows, the business development team handles the challenging and exciting task of monitoring, coordinating and responding to new leads and requests for proposals. This dynamic group works with colleagues throughout APCO's practice groups and offices worldwide.

Responsibilities for this interesting and diverse position include:

  • Updating and managing North America and global new business lists
  • Researching background information for new business leads
  • Compiling and formatting key components for proposals and presentations
  • Developing and gathering materials for pitches and presentations
  • Uploading project proposals and presentations to the internal Web site
  • Assisting with compiling various marketing materials
  • Performing other duties as assigned

New business interns are integrated into proposal development and are therefore expected to exhibit a creative thought process by generating new lead ideas and contributing to group discussions. Global Legal Intern

APCO Worldwide, a leading global public affairs and strategic communication firm, is offering a paid internship in our General Counsel's office. We are seeking an intern interested in gaining domestic and international legal experience in an in-house corporate environment and having fun while working hard. We are accepting applications from both first, second and third year law students.

Responsibilities of this creative, challenging and diverse position will include:

  • Assisting in drafting, reviewing, editing and negotiating contracts
  • Assisting in the creation and updating of worldwide template agreements
  • Assisting with organizing and maintaining worldwide corporate minute books; for e.g., drafting Board and Shareholder resolutions
  • Drafting company policies and compliance training materials

Corporate Marketing & Communication Intern

  • Assisting in the creation, production and distribution of APCO marketing materials
  • Assisting with APCO media outreach, including drafting press releases to announce company news and researching media and speaking opportunities for APCO staff

APCO's internships provide a competitive wage and the opportunity to learn from our roster of experts. Ideal candidates for our fall and spring internships should be available at least 24 hours per week / three days per week. Candidates for our summer internship should be available 40 hours per week.
