Robert Schooling
Robert Schooling, managing director of APCO Worldwide’s Washington, D.C., office and chair of the firm’s worldwide health care practice, brings to clients more than a decade of experience advising corporations, nongovernmental organizations and trade associations on communication strategies to optimize their business, reputation and public policy environment. Mr. Schooling specializes in helping clients find ways to reframe complex policy debates and harness the power of partnership to redefine previously intractable issues.
Since joining APCO in 1995, Mr. Schooling has led communication campaigns on a number of the most significant corporate crises, public policy debates, and corporate and industry reputation efforts. He works closely with organizations’ senior executives to help them devise winning strategies to address the most pressing threats and opportunities they face.
Mr. Schooling has also led successful state legislative communication and grassroots programs in virtually every state in the country, including programs in support of legal reform.
Prior to joining APCO, Mr. Schooling served as senior political field director for the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB). Prior to joining NAHB, Mr. Schooling worked in Democratic politics as a campaign advisor to local, state and federal campaigns.
Mr. Schooling has also taught post-graduate coursework on crisis and issues management at Johns Hopkins University.
