New Leadership at APCO in Brussels
Brussels (January 18, 2006) – A new leadership team was announced at the helm of APCO’s Brussels office, according to Brad Staples, chief executive officer of APCO Worldwide’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The new leadership is Garry Walsh who was appointed managing director; Paolo Nicoletti, former Confindustria senior executive, as deputy managing director; and Laurent Chokoualé-Datou appointed to the new position of vice chairman, Brussels.
“Following six years with APCO and a highly successful period as managing director of our Brussels office, Laurent assumes an important new role giving leadership to our public affairs team in Brussels and managing client assignments across Europe,” said Staples. Chokoualé-Datou will also provide an important link to APCO’s Africa operations, while acting as the Brussels liaison with the financial communications network AMO, APCO’s new strategic partner.
Walsh, the new managing director will oversee day-to-day operational management of the business as well as maintain his lead on key client accounts and contribute to business development. “Since joining APCO, Garry has shown a strong commitment to the company and to colleagues in Brussels. This is matched by an equally strong focus on delivering consistently for our clients. Garry has the ability, energy and focus to drive the Brussels operation, working closely with Paolo, Laurent and the senior EMEA team,” Staples said.
“With the new hire of Paolo, APCO is bringing to its operations a person with a sound knowledge of business and policy issues. His experience at the helm of the Brussels office of Confindustria, the dynamic association of Italian industries, positioned him at the strategic intersection of the private and public realms. Paolo’s understanding of the interaction and intricacies of both worlds will improve APCO’s ability to help clients solve multifaceted communication problems,” said Staples. As the deputy managing director Nicoletti will support Walsh in managing an international group of diverse and talented individuals. Nicoletti also will work closely with the Rome-based APCO team to develop business with leading Italian companies.
The new management in Brussels reflects APCO’s commitment to top-quality client service in the midst of rapid expansion. “We see Europe as key area of growth for APCO Worldwide over the next several years and Brussels will be at the centre of that expansion,” said Staples. “As we develop our European operation, this leadership team will help us uphold and exceed our standard of excellence.”
