Senior Director and Chair of Public Engagement Strategies

Allen Shapard is senior director and chair of public engagement strategies in APCO Worldwide’s New York office. He assists clients in effectively engaging key stakeholders to enhance reputation through a multidisciplinary approach. Mr. Shapard has years of experience in advising international organizations, corporations, institutions and notable individuals. 

Prior to joining APCO, Mr. Shapard served as senior vice president, global partnerships, and head of global institutions group for WME/IMG, the international media, marketing, entertainment and sports conglomerate. As senior vice president, he led a multi-disciplinary, international strategic practice, helping clients increase global awareness and impact through marketing, communications, events, partnerships, philanthropy and media content. His varied clients have included many Fortune 100 companies, the Nobel institutions, the U.S Institute of Peace, the Shanghai and Dubai World Expos, and the United Nations. Mr. Shapard is also a leader in the world of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy, providing strategic counsel to multinationals, NGOs, royalty, celebrities and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Shapard first joined IMG in 1996 as vice president and associate general counsel. Before joining WME/IMG, he spent three years as an associate counsel at Morrison & Foerster and Dow Lohnes in Washington, D.C. 

Mr. Shapard holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University, a master of philosophy degree in international relations from Cambridge University and a juris doctor degree from the University of Virginia.
