Linda Du

General Manager, Greater China

Linda Du, general manager of APCO Worldwide in Greater China, has 17 years of experience managing corporate, business-to-business (B2B), high-tech and financial communication in China and the United States. She specializes in developing cohesive corporate communication programs for multinational companies in global markets.

Ms. Du most recently served as general manager for financial communication and corporate advisory at a global public relations firm where she established the company’s comprehensive corporate communication capabilities in Shanghai, enriching services such as corporate positioning, strategic media relations counsel, crisis communication, corporate social responsibility, employer branding and social media. As the founder of the company’s financial communication practice in China, she also led numerous announcements for cross-border mergers and acquisitions, such as Neiman Marcus’ investment in glamour-sales.com.cn. Her key global clients included Coca-Cola, Kraft, Schneider, PSA, Mattel, Huntsman and TE Connectivity.

Previously, she was senior manager of international public relations at Yahoo! Inc. where she developed international communication strategies, led global product announcements, supervised new market entry communication, and was involved in Yahoo!’s public affairs, litigation and crisis communication activities. She also supported many global M&As at Yahoo!, including strategic partnerships with Alibaba in China and the acquisition of Wretch in Taiwan.

Ms. Du also worked in business development and marketing at Amazon.com. Prior to that, she served as a senior manager in strategic communication in APCO’s Beijing office, where she provided corporate communication and public affairs support to Microsoft, Estee Lauder, Daimler-Chrysler, SmithKline Beecham, Chubb Insurance and many other global companies. During that time, she supported the announcement of eBay’s entry into the China market through its M&A deal with Eachnet and she also developed the content for the first China-specific English website in the insurance industry, which was named one of the “Top 10 Asian Websites” by Asia Week in 1998. Ms. Du started her career as an account executive at a global public relations firm.

Ms. Du has a bachelor’s degree from Beijing Language University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington in Seattle.
