Julie Kjestrup


Julie Kjestrup is a director in APCO Worldwide’s Brussels office, where she heads up our energy and environment practice, and also works for clients on health care and biotech issues.  Ms. Kjestrup has been working in public affairs in Brussels since 2006.  She joined APCO in 2013 from Danfoss, Denmark’ s largest company in the energy and climate sector, where she was Head of Public Affairs for Heating Solutions, in charge of devising and executing the company’s public affairs strategy in Brussels and across a range of European markets. Ms. Kjestrup was also closely involved with a range of the leading trade associations and alliances on energy efficiency, renewables and buildings. She is a board member of EuroACE (the European Association for Energy Efficiency in Buildings) and chairs the advocacy panels for eu.bac, the Building Controls and Automation Association and EHPA (the European Heat Pump Association). She also helped set up the Electric Underfloor Heating Alliance (EUHA) in response to a specific policy issue.

Previously, Ms. Kjestrup worked in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries; at the European Association for Bioindustries (EuropaBio) where she focused on healthcare, SMEs and funding; and in-house at GlaxoSmithKline. She started her career at the then EU Commission Delegation in Washington, D.C.

A Danish national, Ms Kjestrup has spent much of her life abroad. She was educated at the University of Southampton and Sussex European Institute in the UK and speaks fluent English, German, Danish and French, as well as intermediate Swedish and beginner Dutch. She is also vice-chair of DJØF, the largest Danish professional network.
