APCO’s New York Office Expands Corporate Communication Expertise

New York (January 26, 2009) – Liza Olsen, former vice president of investor relations at private equity firm Spencer Trask & Co., joins APCO Worldwide as a vice president, Nelson Fernandez, managing director of APCO’s New York office, announced today.

“Liza brings more than 15 years of experience to clients in corporate, crisis and financial communication,” said Fernandez. “Her comprehensive issues management expertise will be a strong asset to our clients in New York and around the world.”

As vice president at Spencer Trask, Olsen oversaw marketing and communication for the firm’s network of high net worth investors and served as a senior communication and investor relations advisor to the firm’s portfolio of emerging-growth companies. These companies represented a diverse number of industries, including biotechnology, medical devices, telecommunications, and software and information technology.

Prior to Spencer Trask, Olsen worked at Burson-Marsteller as a member of the global corporate transactions and litigation team. She provided communication strategies for companies involved in mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy filings, complex patent litigation and corporate crisis issues.

Olsen began her career in California Governor Pete Wilson’s press office, where she served as a spokesperson to state and national media on issues pertaining to gubernatorial appointments.
