APCO Worldwide's Brussels office is currently seeking a seasoned Associate Manager with particular expertise and interest in the energy, environment and renewable sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting edge client issues, lead local and interoffice client projects as well as to work as an integral member of a diverse and dedicated team of consultants.
You will interface with clients and consult with them regarding project issues, make recommendations as to the strategies that should be used to achieve client goals, and inform senior management of upcoming or current issues on accounts. In addition, you would be required to show demonstrated strategic and tactical abilities, strong written and oral communication skills and identify new business opportunities. The Associate Manage also has responsibility for managing, developing and conducting the performance appraisals of staff at Senior Associate Level and below and play a key role in the execution of APCO's business plan and will participate in the decision-making process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a practice group and all client work on a daily basis; initiate internal and client meetings and conference calls; serve as client contact for specific tasks or
projects; identify and pursue ways to grow current client accounts; ensure that all project deadlines are met; conduct research and analyze issues that may impact client business
- Produce accurate written reports, such as press releases, summaries, reports and other client materials that require little or no revisions; delegate and manage work of
junior staff and follow-up on progress and completion; manage and conduct performance appraisals for designated staff; manage internal communications with project team and
other staff; mentor junior staff
- Monitor media to find new business development opportunities and pursue new business opportunities, and
monitor business/government issues
- Develop budget and track expenses against client budget;
monitor expenses and costs charged to project accounts;
ensure that client bills are accurate and timely, and manage
vendor relationships and ensure payment of expenses
- Active role in execution of the business plan for the
office
- Other responsibilities assigned
- Aim to achieve 6.25 billable hours on average per day
Essential Qualifications – Standards:
- Undergraduate degree in related field essential
- Proven experience to a senior account manager competency level in a Public Affairs, Communications, an NGO environment or academia
- Some exposure to pan-European Public Affairs and Communications programs desirable
- Energy and Environmental sector knowledge and experience essential
- Strong EU institutional background and/or understanding and network
- Fluent written and spoken English essential; at least one additional language

Senior Associate (Account Manager) – Healthcare

Our established Healthcare practice in Brussels has an opportunity for a Senior Associate to join and lead client projects independently as well as to provide essential tactical support to the Healthcare Director. We require an experienced account manager within this field who can demonstrate significant proven experience in a Public Affairs and Communications environment and add real value to the growth of this core practice going forward. We will also consider a professional with Consumer Goods experience for this role.
The Senior Associate will be responsible for developing communication plans, managing client relationships, developing new business and developing client budgets. In addition, they will demonstrate strategic abilities, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. They will interface with all levels of staff and clients regarding projects and will be required to travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as day-to-day client contact and prepare strategic planning and communications plans for clients, monitor plans; lead in client meetings
- Inform team members of possible issues regarding client projects and manage outcomes, lead other team members as necessary in order to complete client projects; establish project timelines: ensure deadlines met

We currently have an opening for a Project Associate which would be suited to someone has some public affairs related work experience and highly motivated towards a career in a diverse consultancy environment.
The job: This job would involve the successful applicant in working as an integral part of our client-facing account teams delivering communication and public affairs programmes for our clients across a broad range of practice areas.
The successful applicant would also be a part of APCO's in-house Research and Intelligence Unit, providing information to colleagues and clients on latest developments in politics, media and society.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide account support across a range of issues
- Produce client briefs, monitoring reports and research briefs

The person:

- Demonstrable understanding of client service skills
- A willingness to learn and develop skills in a 'hands-on' environment
- The ability to work to tight deadlines with strong planning and organising skills
- Excellent research and writing skills with close attention to detail
